Thank you for taking the time to visit this website and find out more about the role of Chief Executive at Epping Forest District Council.
My expectations of this role are high. I want to work closely with this person in setting ambitious targets and creating an organisational culture that can rise to the challenge. The new Chief Executive will set the tone – with a focus on empowering colleagues to make things happen. They’ll help to foster an entrepreneurial spirit within the council, encouraging others to spot opportunities and supporting them with the tools they need to convert good ideas into outcomes.
Our proximity to London, coupled with the fact that 93% of the district is designated green belt means that managing the growth agenda requires adept and astute leadership. Our Local Plan is expected to deliver 11,400 homes by 2033, and the balance between meeting housing demand, and supporting the commercial space and infrastructure that are essential to economic growth, while protecting our natural assets will remain a complex and contentious agenda.
It’s a time of change within the council. We have already made key leadership appointments to our senior team, and the Chief Executive will be instrumental in making the most out of this additional resource, while ensuring that strategic ambitions are founded on solid operational capacity.
Epping Forest District has a unique history and heritage – now is the time to focus on our future and build the basis for excellent quality of life here for many years to come. If you believe that you have the drive, skills and experience to contribute and influence at the most senior level in our organisation, and are ready to commit your talent to our community I would be delighted to receive your application.
